Doing a basic rotator cuff exercise at home with some free weights,Resistance Bands or Total Gym can really save you from many forms tendinitis, bursitis and basic shoulder injuries.

Your rotator cuff muscles are some of the most important components in your shoulder. They not only help keep your shoulder in place during difficult sports and leisure activities, you rotator cuff is used in many office tasks and basic activities.

We all use or rotator cuffs on a daily basis, many of us do not realize just how much they get used in a day.

Weak rotator cuff muscles will be present in many people; especially those that work with bad posture and their shoulders slumped forward.

Some people try to over strengthen their rotators, by using heavy weight and low repetitions when performing a rotator cuff exercise. That is not truly recommended.

As a trainer for over 10 years I see both mistakes often- rotators that are too weak and those that are too strong- causing shoulder inflexibility and tight pectoral muscles. Incorporating a rotator cuff exercise into your workout routine is easy.

Your rotator cuffs are comprised of your external an internal rotator cuffs- with 2 small muscles in each category. This website will not get into complicated anatomy and physiology- but you should know that there are a total of 4 muscles in the "rotator cuff family".

It is important to work and stretch all of them. You want a shoulder joint that is strong, flexible as well as multi functional.

You can incorporate one of the demonstrated rotators cuff exercises into your shoulder program- no more than 2 times a week. At a high repetition and low weight, that still challenges you.

Then do not forget to stretch out your shoulder joints to keep them from becoming too stiff.
